Heat Transfer Effect and Service Life of Stainless Steel Finned Tubes

2022 11/02

When stainless steel finned tubes are used, the effective space increases the heat exchange area, effectively improves the heat transfer effect, and reduces the space occupied by the heat transfer surface during operation, which can reduce its volume, especially for fast loading boilers.

The stainless steel finned tube reduces the equipment cost and improves the safety of the equipment. In the process of operation, due to the reduction of the pressure drop at the water side, the operating cost decreases. During the operation, the stiffness of the finned tube increases and the seismic resistance of the tube is improved.

Heat Transfer Effect of Stainless Steel Finned Tubes

The heat transfer effect of high frequency resistance welding and brazing spiral finned tubes is at least 4 times higher than that of bare tubes. The heat transfer effect of finned tube with open teeth is better than that of integral finned tube. However, it should be noted that the welding rate of the welds between fins and tubes is not 100%, and the standard provisions are only more than 80%. The unfused part has thermal resistance, which will affect the heat transfer effect.

The 100% contact between the fins of the integral spiral finned tube and the main tube, plus the small R transition between the fin root and the main tube during forming, not only increases the stiffness and pressure bearing capacity of the fins, but also facilitates the heat transfer. Its heat transfer effect can be improved by at least 5-6 times than that of the bare tube, which is obviously superior to the heat transfer effect of high-frequency resistance welding and brazing spiral finned tubes.

Fin Tube

High frequency resistance welding of spiral finned tubes is to apply pressure while melting at the contact of two metal surfaces. The welding rate is good. The corrosion resistance of weld metal is more than twice as high as that of brazing, which can greatly improve the service life of finned tubes. However, due to poor welding, long-term use is likely to cause weld cracking, which will disconnect the fins from the tube, thus affecting its heat transfer efficiency, and the fin tube has to be replaced.
