Advantages of using Finned Tubes
Finned Tubes have several advantages:
Improve heat transfer rate
The fins in the Finned Tubes increase the contact surface area. This enables it to speed up the rate of heat transfer.

Improve heat transfer coefficient
In normal tubes, the outer surface area is about the same or slightly different than the inner surface area. In this case, the fluid with the lowest heat transfer coefficient will drive the overall heat transfer rate. Finned Tubes significantly increase surface area. This is particularly useful when the heat transfer coefficient of the fluid inside the Tube is greater than the heat transfer coefficient of the fluid outside the Tube.
Finned Tube Products offers root welded Fin to tube attachments. This welding method is available on our large diameter tubes, providing a void-free fin-to-tube joint. This method of connection reduces the amount of solder used compared to the dipping process. This increases the heat transfer from the Finned Tubes. When immersed in solder, a complete insulating solder coating/film is formed over the entire Fin Tube surface. Welded Finned Tubes perform well up to 375°F.
